Storage Solutions, Household Devices, - Making Lifestyle A Lot ...

In case Genuine health and fitness at any time makes its presence felt, it'll influence many environmentally friendly choices, not merely decisions linked to both mental and physical well-being. REAL health and fitness is around quality of life. As a result, True wellness lovers could be attentive to possibilities regarding performing dependably and wonderfully toward the surroundings. The mentality involving Actual health and fitness contains admiration for your Commons. My metropolitan organizing qualifications makes me personally alert and also understanding of that will portion of futurism that deals with the territory utilize, open up place, ecology and fashoins pertaining to dwelling. An area involving specific interest is your development of the home responding for you to environmental problems, adjustments along with challenges. Within a True health and fitness world, the house of the future will need to be become a breeding ground suitable for sustainability, vitality productivity, best nourishment, d?ugopisy reklamowe household fitness organically attuned to mother nature. The popularity within this course is apparent: inspite of the fragile overall economy as well as a flat building field, green development is already evident inside the development market.

Our properties probably won't seem like modern plant-friendly, glass-domed arboretums in our life is, however they must turned into a great deal enviromentally friendly compared to what they come in ages considering that the Business Get older came about. It is time to re-think our own apartments, due to the impact properties dress in the particular environment. The actual electricity, home heating and drinking water ingested by simply real estate will be huge. A single appraisal (your Oughout.Ersus. Electricity Division) places the proportion of their time usage and greenhouse-gas pollution levels kind of housing in 39 pct. How big is our own properties can also be critical - just about all eco-friendly thinking party favors stream-lined housing that is certainly modest (no less than in comparison to countless Mc Houses from the metropolitan prosperous) but doesn't feel small or even restricted. Needless to say, other pursuits (elizabeth.grams., vitality efficiency, means utilized) have to be the same or perhaps outstanding enviroment within the smaller system, plus size must boost with people in the room. Inside Important West, Fl, The Blue City Waves of Adjust motivation demonstrates a lot of promising sustainability tendencies within real estate. Granted their location, these types of residences are specifically coded in disaster-resistant trend. This is a essential concern inside coast as well as other regions of the usa and around the planet, due to the start of climatic change and increasing catastrophe insurance fees. Your Blue-Green constructing plans are generally ranked by FEMA as near absolute protection.

This means these are tornado substantiation, termite proof, fire proof, earth quake proof and also competent at withstanding tornados approximately 3 hundred mile per hour. (Let's desire your builders utilized the equivalent of #4 rivets, certainly not these cheap #3 rivets that Harland and also Wolff associated with Belfast, Northern Eire employed to build the Rms titanic rapidly and also at reasonable cost, which in turn fatally sacrificed top quality and is also right now considered the cause of your fast tragedy in the Titanic ship.) To understand more about Crucial West's Ocean involving Adjust, click this link.

Not too long ago, The particular Wall structure Street Diary questioned architects to sign up inside a futurism exercising to development a good energy-efficient, eco eco friendly house with no consider in order to charge, technologies, appearance or way we are employed to dwelling. Such a nice notion. Designing are the real deal wellness-oriented occupants to exist in this sort of housing had not been a new requirements, but the criteria which were assigned produced citizen well being a vital aspect regarding participating designers as well as pupils. (Observe Alex Frangos, The Green Property of the Future, Your Walls Road Record, The spring 28, 09, R. R1.) The results with the idea supply a sense for which could progress while brand new norms for homes are important. Envision houses with a few from the right after capabilities:

1 . Your backyard faade. Plant life that provide color along with a / c and also specific housing surfaces in which get condensation regarding drinking water employ, minimizing addiction to wells which d?ugopisy reklamowe empty aquifers or municipal techniques that will reduced ponds along with other tanks.

- Spatial layouts favorable to function. This is key to vitality productivity in this home business minimizes, if not gets rid of, driving -- a huge energy-consuming custom.

* Any caribbean tank which accumulates drinking water along with maintains the dwelling awesome and also wind mills that generate electricity.

1 . Properties in which copy any manifestation of trees and shrubs, whereby the surface has a photosynthetic layer woven in to the textile with the outside that will captures sunshine.

* Style characteristics in which temperature drinking water along with make energy, generate air as well as therefore balanced out any kind of carbon produced elsewhere in the home.

- Landscapes on surfaces. The particular crops not just nurture inhabitants; they have color along with a / c along with digest high temperature more efficiently when compared with solid wood, packet, stucco as well as goblet.

* Partially put together loaded canisters that enable steadiness associated with qc along with mobility for your home owner.

1 . Waters stacked along with fish - the sort of bass people ingest (elizabeth.h., tilapia), not only look at (e.g., goldfish).

1 . Structurel capabilities which convert sunshine straight into power and also carbon dioxide straight into fresh air. A single impressive probability is often a "biomorphic" external floor material made to purpose such as dinosaur skin. It adapts to be able to conditions * in vivid sun's rays, that becomes darker and protects; about darkish days it allows lighting to soak up highest radiance and also heat.

* Attractive along with functional layout features (elizabeth.grams., bent roofing) in which facilitate tone in order to decrease the dependence on such power empties as air-conditioning.

- Self-cleaning goblet along with specific coating which utilizes ultra-violet sunshine to break down natural and organic soil that's cleaned apart simply by rain water.

1 . Self-repairing shows, wine glass along with cladding - just about all infused together with infinitesimal supplements associated with colour that split available and automatically restore scratches and other destruction.

1 . Rather than timber or even metals pertaining to upright framing, lightweight, green carbon pipes are used.

One of the most striking alterations are usually in heating and cooling resources. The residences regarding Genuine wellness-oriented house owners are probably always be warmed by ground-source, heat-pump trade programs. The actual temperature in the soil is fairly continual, so heat can be consumed winter, chilled in summer season.

There's with the adjustments known earlier mentioned, scalping strategies can be found, yet technological innovation advancements are needed to carry expenses within just functional ranges. One of many designs making use of fresh natural technologies foresees a new building sector capable of producing residences where practically every thing utilized within can be reconstituted and also recycled. Your case in point observed is often a property being a woods. In the woodland, the fallen tree biodegrades. In your home, like with the particular shrub within the natrual enviroment, creating materials could possibly be used again as well as, catching the pin character, delivered on the Planet.

These features just start to explain options according to existing utilizes d?ugopisy reklamowe along with widened technologies inside of selection of feasibility. Each of our True well being life style interest won't operate in a vacuum cleaner. Those of us having a dedication to the solution environment, for you to guarding normal sources, in order to mitigating java prices, in order to defending confronted along with other types (which includes our personal), to be able to planetary citizenship, for you to saving the actual oceanic masses and to all that is needed with regard to refurbishment, durability and availability will certainly welcome the kind of improvements described. It does not please take a fantastic stretch of the creativeness for connecting such attention to your prospective customers with regard to continuing along with broadened happiness, this means and function and all the relaxation related to quality lifestyle for all those individuals, just about everywhere.

Heidi Klum Topless Photos to Lead to Lawsuit?

Search the Internet and you won't have a difficult time coming across Heidi Klum nude pictures. This is one super model incredibly comfortable with her (ridiculously hot!) body.

But Klum is anything but comfortable with photographers infringing on her privacy, which is what went down during a recent vacation in France with her boyfriend/bodyguard, Martin Kristen.

Heidi Klum in Beverly Hills

Images of Klum topless have popped up on various websites, all snapped without the former Project Runway host's permission.

It's unclear which French tabloid took the originals, but Klum's reps are in the process of tracking them down because Heidi was on a secluded, private beach and may want to sue over the invasion.

Sources tell TMZ that Klum is likely to wait until the Kate Middleton topless picture scandal is sorted out to determine whether or not she has a legal case to make.

In the meantime... Heidi Klum half-naked pictures are out there, fellas! Go get 'em!

NASA's solar fleet peers into coronal cavities

ScienceDaily (Sep. 20, 2012) ? The sun's atmosphere dances. Giant columns of solar material -- made of gas so hot that many of the electrons have been scorched off the atoms, turning it into a form of magnetized matter we call plasma -- leap off the sun's surface, jumping and twisting. Sometimes these prominences of solar material shoot off, escaping completely into space; other times they fall back down under their own weight.

The prominences are sometimes also the inner structure of a larger formation, appearing from the side almost as the filament inside a large light bulb. The bright structure around and above that light bulb is called a streamer, and the inside "empty" area is called a coronal prominence cavity.

Such structures are but one of many that the roiling magnetic fields and million-degree plasma create in the sun's atmosphere, the corona, but they are an important one as they can be the starting point of what's called a coronal mass ejection, or CME. CMEs are billion-ton clouds of material from the sun's atmosphere that erupt out into the solar system and can interfere with satellites and radio communications near Earth when they head our way.

"We don't really know what gets these CMEs going," says Terry Kucera, a solar scientist at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md. "So we want to understand their structure before they even erupt, because then we might have a better clue about why it's erupting and perhaps even get some advance warning on when they will erupt."

Kucera and her colleagues have published a paper in the Sept. 20, 2012, issue of The Astrophysical Journal on the temperatures of the coronal cavities. This is the third in a series of papers -- the first discussed cavity geometry and the second its density -- collating and analyzing as much data as possible from a cavity that appeared over the upper left horizon of the sun on Aug. 9, 2007. By understanding these three aspects of the cavities, that is the shape, density and temperature, scientists can better understand the space weather that can disrupt technologies near Earth.

The Aug. 9 cavity lay at a fortuitous angle that maximized observations of the cavity itself, as opposed to the prominence at its base or the surrounding plasma. Together the papers describe a cavity in the shape of a croissant, with a giant inner tube of looping magnetic fields -- think something like a slinky -- helping to define its shape. The cavity appears to be 30% less dense than the streamer surrounding it, and the temperatures vary greatly throughout the cavity, but on average range from 1.4 million to 1.7 million Celsius (2.5 to 3 million Fahrenheit), increasing with height.

Trying to describe a cavity, a space that appears empty from our viewpoint, from 93 million miles away is naturally a tricky business. "Our first objective was to completely pin down the morphology," says Sarah Gibson, a solar scientist at the High Altitude Observatory at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) in Boulder, Colo. who was an author on all three cavity papers. "When you see such a crisp clean shape like this, it's not an accident. That shape is telling you something about the physics of the magnetic fields creating it, and understanding those magnetic fields can also help us understand what's at the heart of CMEs."

To do this, the team collected as much data from as many instruments from as many perspectives as they could, including observations from NASA's Solar Terrestrial Relations Observatory (STEREO), ESA and NASA's Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO), the JAXA/NASA mission Hinode, and NCAR's Mauna Loa Solar Observatory.

They collected this information for the cavity's entire trip across the face of the sun along with the sun's rotation. Figuring out, for example, why the cavity was visible on the left side of the sun but couldn't be seen as well on the right held important clues about the structure's orientation, suggesting a tunnel shape that could be viewed head on from one perspective, but was misaligned for proper viewing from the other. The cavity itself looked like a tunnel in a crescent shape, not unlike a hollow croissant. Magnetic fields loop through the croissant in giant circles to support the shape, the way a slinky might look if it were narrower on the ends and tall in the middle -- the entire thing draped in a sheath of thick plasma. The paper describing this three-dimensional morphology appeared in The Astrophysical Journal on Dec. 1, 2010.

Next up, for the second paper, was the cavity's density. Figuring out density and temperature was a trickier prospect since one's point of view of the sun is inherently limited. Because the sun's corona is partially transparent, it is difficult to tease out differences of density and temperature along one's line of sight; all the radiation from a given line hits an instrument at the same time in a jumble, information from one area superimposed upon every other.

Using a variety of techniques to tease density out from temperature, the team was able to determine that the cavity was 30% less than that of the surrounding streamer. This means that there is, in fact, quite a bit of material in the cavity. It simply appears dim to our eyes when compared with the denser, brighter areas nearby. The paper on the cavity's density appeared in The Astrophysical Journal on May 20, 2011.

"With the morphology and the density determined, we had found two of the main characteristics of the cavity, so next we focused on temperature," says Kucera. "And it turned out to be a much more complicated problem. We wanted to know if it was hotter or cooler than the surrounding material -- the answer is that it is both."

Ultimately, what Kucera and her colleagues found was that the temperature of the cavity was not -- on average -- hotter or cooler than the surrounding plasma.

However, it was much more varied, with hotter and cooler areas that Kucera thinks link the much colder 10,000 degrees Celsius (17,000 F) prominence at the bottom to the million to two million degrees Celsius (1.8 million to 3.6 million degrees Fahrenheit) corona at the top. Other observations of cavities show that cavity features are constantly in motion creating a complicated flow pattern that the team would like to study further.

While these three science papers focused on just the one cavity from 2007, the scientists have already begun comparing this test case to other cavities and find that the characteristics are fairly consistent. More recent cavities can also be studied using the high-resolution images from NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO), which launched in 2010.

"Our point with all of these research projects into what might seem like side streets, is ultimately to figure out the physics of magnetic fields in the corona," says Gibson. "Sometimes these cavities can be stable for days and weeks, but then suddenly erupt into a CME. We want to understand how that happens. We're accessing so much data, so it's an exciting time -- with all these observations, our understanding is coming together to form a consistent story."

Reasons Why People Hire in Home Aged Care

In home aged care is designed to provide help to the elderly people so they can stay in their homes and out of the nursing facilities. Aged home care is one way that people can get the assistance they need without leaving the house they love.

Aged home care is the solution for people who have an elderly relative that is having difficulty living independently. The in home aged care providers can help people that are having trouble moving around their house with the necessary things we must all do each day. These professionals will come to the home of the older person and help them bathe, and help them get in and out of bed, and help them move from their bedroom to other areas of the house. They will also help them clean their living spaces, and cook their meals, and shop for their food, and be there in case of emergencies.

Aged home care nurses are often called to the home of people who have just been released from hospital. Many elderly people go into the hospital and have surgical procedures that take a long time to recover from. These include open heart surgery, broken hips, knee replacements, back surgeries, and other major operations. When they are released from the hospital the doctor will want a nurse to come visit them until they have been properly rehabilitated.

In home aged care can also be arranged for elderly patients that live with family members. Some people have medical conditions that prevent them from being able to live alone so they have to move into the homes of their relatives. As well as ensuring you use any community support that is available, employing private carers can provide the important assistance and companionship your loved one needs. They can also come and stay with the patient when the family would like to take time out.

Sitting around the clock with ill family members is very stressful. You will need to plan some time for you to take a break and relax. In home aged care allows you to have the time to be without the responsibility for a few hours and for short breaks. You and your elderly family member will benefit from you taking this time to relax, refresh, and recharge your batteries. Caring can be challenging and tiring, especially if you also have other family and job responsibilities. You must make arrangements for you to get away for you to remain in good health mentally and physically.

There is no shame in growing older and needing help to do some of the things you always could do before. There is no shame in asking for help to care for your elderly loved one.

In home aged care is provided by a variety of workers and range from highly qualified nurses to people with no professional training. Aged home care is the provision of the help to the elderly and families of the elderly so they might live full and happy lives at home.

How To Send Email Customers Want To Read | Empower Network ...

If you want to build a good reputation as an online business, regular contact with your customer base is key. Email marketing can be a fantastic way to accomplish this. Below are some great tips to help increase the success of your email marketing campaign.

Testimonials are an effective email marketing tool. Let your reader know how this email will benefit them right this second. End your email with a call to action, enticing them to click through your link and make a purchase.

Always proofread your emails. You need to make sure all emails and newsletters are correct. Before sending out your email, test the layout in a few different email clients to be sure it can be read the way you would like it to be read. Ensure that every link is working, as well.

TIP! Your marketing emails should contain rich content to complement the request for business. Offer special articles to your subscribers that may not be on your site.

Select one day every week to send out your newsletter, based on what the email says and what your subscribers? schedules look like. Unsurprisingly, business newsletters are most successful when they are sent on business days. If you send out a newsletter that targets families, or one that is devoted to leisure activities, you should mail it on the weekend.

You must build an organic email opt-in list if you wish for your marketing campaign to succeed. That means that you should not buy an email list that probably won?t include people who are interested in the products you sell. Instead, grow your subscriber base over time with people who are interested in what you are selling.

Mix up the format of your emails every once in awhile to keep things interesting. If you typically send out email marketing messages composed in HTML, then occasionally send one or two of them using a plain text layout. When well-written, this could give your consumers an emotional avenue when it comes to your services and products.

TIP! When creating an email list, create it organically. You should never buy or rent an email address list.

Use your emails to give your customers incentives. When they have a reason to do business, they often will. Offering coupons, discounts, sales or free shipping only available to email subscribers is a great way to keep them on your opt-in list.

You can increase the loyalty of your customers by personalizing their emails. Take advantage of the opportunity to tell them about new discounts or special offers. Send information about products based on what they previously purchased. Customers who already trust you and have a relationship with you are easier to convert for sales than new customers.

You may want to try sending emails with no images. Images may look interesting and fun, but they often slow load times for emails. Also, many email clients won?t display images without the client?s interaction. Many people will be viewing the email on slower connections, or connections with metered bandwidth, so keep that in mind. Focus on the content more than any images you might include. You will create a loyal customer base this way.

TIP! To encourage the growth of your marketing campaign, combine your marketing emails with social media marketing using Facebook, Twitter, and other outlets. Your customers may share newsletters and other marketing materials online, which will help you get more new customers.

Give different options to your customers for an effective campaign. Let the subscriber dictate how often they would like to get messages from your business, how much personal information they relinquish to you, and how many emails they would like from you in a given period of time. The more choices customers have, the more they will see the business relationship as equal and mutually beneficial.

Emails are a wonderful way to follow up with your customers. When you?re sending the follow up email, consider adding in a coupon for a future purchase. Add a link in your email and ask them to follow it for more information. Give your customer a compelling reason to click by offering great savings on their purchase.

Only send customers emails that contain information they can use. Do not abuse their confidence by giving them sales petitions that are blatant in nature. Attempt to make sure that each and every email you send out contains unique discounts, offers, coupons, or just useful and enlightening knowledge.

TIP! Be sure that your strategy is persistently pursued. It is essential that you have the correct clients in mind, or your work is worthless.

If you desire to succeed in your business, you must have a great marketing plan. Email marketing strategies should always be a part of these plans. Use the tips above to make the most of your email marketing, so that you can be the success you hope to be in your business

Mars rover takes aim at a rock called Jake

Scientists plan to analyze the pyramid-shaped rock that's nicknamed "Jake." NBC's Brian Williams reports.

By Alan Boyle

The first rock that NASA's Curiosity rover will touch for science's sake on Mars is a pyramid-shaped chunk that's been named in honor of a top engineer who worked on every one of NASA's rover missions ? but passed away just days after Curiosity's landing.

Curiosity's study of the rock, dubbed "Jake Matijevic," will dominate the next few days of the rover's operations on Mars, just as its observations of Martian mini-eclipses dominated the past few days.

Jake the rock, which measures about 10 inches (25 centimeters) tall and 16 inches (40 centimeters) wide, isn't all that exotic. It seems to consist of garden-variety basalt, similar to the first Martian rock that NASA's Spirit rover examined eight and a half years ago. And that's exactly the point, according to Caltech's John Grotzinger, project scientist for the Curiosity mission. Jake will provide a good yardstick for sophisticated instruments such as the Alpha Proton X-Ray Spectrometer, or APXS, and the laser-zapping ChemCam analyzer.

By matching up the chemical readings from the different instruments, Curiosity's science team will be able to confirm that the findings from the fancy-schmancy ChemCam are consistent with the readings?from the APXS, an upgraded version of a device that was included on the Spirit and Opportunity rovers. Grotzinger told reporters today that it's an opportunity to compare "something which is tried and true with the latest and greatest new technology."

ChemCam can focus on areas that are less than a millimeter (0.04 inch) wide, while the APXS' best resolution ranges around 1.5 centimeters (0.6 inch).

Grotzinger estimated that the testing could begin on Friday ? which is the Martian day, or sol, after tomorrow ("solorrow," he quipped). It could take a couple of sols for the rover to reach out its 7-foot-long (2.1-meter-long) robotic arm and use the APXS as well as the fine-resolution Mars Hand Lens Imager, or MAHLI. The rover might have to back up a bit to give the rock a proper zapping with ChemCam's laser. The flashes of light from the tiny laser blasts will be analyzed by an onboard spectrometer to determine the rock's elemental composition.

Remembering Jake
Richard Cook, project manager for the $2.5 billion Mars Science Laboratory mission, said the rock's name pays tribute to Jacob Matijevic, a leading engineer at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory who was involved in NASA's rover missions since Mars Pathfinder and the Sojourner rover in 1997. Matijevic was a Chicago native who earned his Ph.D. in mathematics and came up with the Matijevic Theorem, which was once described as "one of the most beautiful results of recent years in commutative algebra."

Matijevic's obituary in the Chicago Tribune notes that he came to JPL in 1981 and took on a variety of assignments. Eventually, he came to specialize in systems engineering for the Mars rover designs as well as rover surface operations. "He was probably one of the top one or two experts on surface operations here at JPL," Cook said.

Matijevic played a key role in the Spirit and Opportunity rover missions, which were originally planned to last just 90 days on Mars. Grotzinger recalled that Matijevic once said "if this rover lasts six months, it'll probably last six years."

"He seems to have come pretty close," Grotzinger observed.

The engineer switched over from Opportunity to the Mars Science Laboratory mission, but passed away at the age of 64 on Aug. 20, after battling respiratory problems, the Tribune reported.

Grotzinger said Matijevic would have loved dealing with the complexities involved in studying the rock that's named after him. "All that activity and all those considerations are what honor Jake Matijevic so well," he said.

The chief aim of Curiosity's two-year primary mission is to analyze Mars' geology and surface chemistry and determine whether the planet could have been potentially habitable in ancient times. After studying Jake's memorial rock, Curiosity is due to move on to an area known as Glenelg, where three types of geological formations come together.

Since its landing on Mars on Aug. 5, the six-wheeled rover has covered more than half of the quarter-mile (400-meter) distance to Glenelg, and its cameras are getting a better view of the place. Grotzinger said the pictures show thin bands of dark rock that appear to alternate with lighter-toned rock. "As we get closer in to the Glenelg area, we'll understand better and better what these areas are," Grotzinger said. Curiosity is expected to get to the area in a couple of weeks, he said.

Messages from mini-eclipses
The Curiosity team is also planning to receive more pictures of the partial solar eclipses that the rover's high-resolution Mastcam system has observed over the past week. Mark Lemmon, a science team co-investigator from Texas A&M University, said close analysis of the imagery could provide insights into the interior structure of Mars and its two moons, Phobos and Deimos.

Mastcam took hundreds of pictures when Phobos made two passes over the sun's disk, and again when Deimos made one pass. Such transits occur multiple times during a short season, and then they don't occur again for nearly one Earth year. Lemmon explained that the timing of the eclipses could be compared with past sightings to produce precise measurements of how the moons' orbits have changed due to Mars' gravitational tides.

"We can't go inside Mars, but we can use these to tell how much Mars is deformed when the moons go by," Lemmon said. "So we measure the transits very precisely [and] we get information on Mars' interior structure."

Some high-resolution images from Phobos' first transit were sent down to Earth over the weekend, but most of the imagery is still saved in the rover's computer memory on Mars, awaiting the right opportunity for transmission, Lemmon said.

Phobos and Deimos have irregular shapes, and the prevailing wisdom is that they're both asteroids that were pulled into orbit by Mars' gravitational pull. Phobos averages 14 miles (22.2 kilometers) in width, and Deimos is roughly 8 miles (12.6 kilometers) wide. Deimos circles Mars at a distance of 14,580 miles (23,460 kilometers), while Phobos is much closer (5,800 miles, or 9,400 kilometers). Phobos is gradually coming even closer to Mars, which makes the moon's orbit unstable over the long term: One of these days, it will break up into pieces and perhaps produce a ring of debris around the Red Planet.

Fortunately, that day isn't expected to come for 10 million to 15 million years. "Curiosity will be safe for a little while," Lemmon said.

Video: Romney to hold first stump event since video release

>>> just hours away from mitt romney 's first official campaign stump since the release of the video that happened behind the scenes in may. romney is in florida today for what's called a meet the candidate's event with univision and facebook. tonight, stopping by a rally with members of the latino community in miami. this is all, of course, surrounding new poll numbers showinging president obama rebounding with the economy and as well as the direction of the country. and joining me to talk about all of this, democratic congressman chris van hollen of maryland. thank you for your time.

>> great to be with you.

>> let me talk to you about this. the nbc news able to authenticate the video of 1998 that the romney campaign circulating. it shows then state senator obama speaking at a conference. the romney campaign, it says trying to pivot or get the heat off of him by releasing the video and i want to play it and get your reaction to what's happening now. let's play it please.

>> sure.

>> the trick is figuring out how do we structure government systems that pool resources and hence facilitate some redistribution because i actually believe in redistribution at least at a certain level to make sure that everybody's got a shot.

>> so the campaign spokesperson is saying that the romney campaign so desperate to change the subject that they've gone back to the failed playbook co-authored of sarah palin and joe the plumber, 14 years ago that the senator obama was making an argument for more efficient, more effective government. what's your thought on the romney team trying to release the 14-year video of the president?

>> well, tamron, i think it is a sign of desperation. this is a nonstory. the president has made very clear two things. that he wants to grow the economy. but part of that requires us to make important investments in the kids' education, infrastructure, roads and bridges and we have a system of taxes and we have in this country a progressive system of taxation, although some of the steps took in the bush administration that reduced the amount of that people like mitt romney had to pay has meant that we have a higher deficit and less to invest in some of these important efforts to grow the economy so this is a total nonstory. the reality is that the president has a plan to continue to move the country forward, to build on the progress we've made, recognizing we have a long way to go and he wants to grow the economy. but he also recognizes that to do that you have to make important investments in areas like education.

>> let's talk about this new nbc news/" wall street journal " poll. job approval number there at 50%. seen improvement asked dealing with the economy and some economic questions seen governor romney fare pretty decentury but now the president making headway seen in romney 's strong point. congressman, when you look at high interest voters, romney up a bit over the president, 49-46 and breaking it down by republicans and democrats and described as high interest 80% are republican. 71% are democrats. so despite the fact that the president seemed to be scoring well with voters, there is some concern about enthusiasm, at least when you look at these numbers and who will show up in november.

>> well, look. this is going to be a very tight race. i mean, the president has known that from the beginning. his campaign has known that. no one's taking anything for granted but as people begin to focus on the critical choice before us, i think people are confident that when people hear the two paths forward they'll choose to support the president and not go back to the failed policies of the past. and the latest tape by mitt romney will just reinforce the view that's totally out of touch. even for somebody's that out of touch and has that elitist an attitude that tape was breath taking because what it was saying was to people who have been paying in to medicare and social security but no longer pay in income taxes they're freeloading on the system and hard working americans struggling to make ends meet what they're something freeloading on the system so i think the latest comments will just reinforce the view of the american people that mitt romney 's out of touch when it comes to their basic every day concerns.

>> congressman van hollen, thank you so much for coming on, reacting to the video we have been able to authenticate and your reaction on it. thank you, sir.

Angling for gold: Alternative description of atomic level gold bonding

ScienceDaily (Sep. 19, 2012) ? A new model provides an alternative description of atomic level gold bonding.

A study on how gold atoms bond to other atoms using a model that takes into account bonds direction has been carried out by physicist Marie Backman from the University of Helsinki, Finland, and colleagues. These findings, which are about to be published in The European Physical Journal B, are a first step toward better understanding how gold binds to other materials through strong, so-called covalent, bonds.

What scientists need is an empirical model, based on a so-called potential, that describes the gold-gold bond in a reliable way. Most previous models only accounted for interactions in the spherical electron density around the atom. Although it is suitable to describe bonds between gold atom pairs, it is not adequate to describe how surface gold atoms bond to other materials. In such a case, the density of interacting electrons is no longer spherical.

Indeed, bond angles matter when gold binds to other materials. Thus, the authors used a model based on potentials with angular dependence, referred to as Tersoff potential. It offers a compromise between including bond directionality, which is needed for covalent bonds, and keeping the computer time needed for the simulations low.

The authors used theoretical and computational analysis to study gold atoms interacting with their neighbours. They fitted their potential functions to the most important observed characteristics of gold, such as gold atoms' lattice constant, binding energy and elastic constants. Thanks to such potential functions they were then able to describe bonding in atomistic simulations. This involves, first, determining the forces on each atom based on their relative positions and second solving equations of motion, to show how the atoms move, on a very short time scale.

Building on this model, future work could, for example, involve the development of cross potentials for gold nanoparticles and nanorods in a matrix, typically used in biomedical imaging and nanophotonics.

Precision motion tracking - Thousands of cells at a time

Tuesday, September 18, 2012

Researchers have developed a new way to observe and track large numbers of rapidly moving objects under a microscope, capturing precise motion paths in three dimensions.

Over the course of the study--reported online Sept. 17, 2012, in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences--researchers followed an unprecedented 24,000 rapidly moving cells over wide fields of view and through large sample volumes, recording each cell's path for as long as 20 seconds.

"We can very precisely track the motion of small things, more than a thousand of them at the same time, in parallel," says research lead and National Science Foundation CAREER awardee Aydogan Ozcan, an electrical engineering and bioengineering professor at UCLA. "We were able to achieve sub-micron accuracy over a large volume, allowing us to understand, statistically, how thousands of objects move in different ways."

The latest study is an extension of several years of NSF-supported work by Ozcan and his colleagues to develop lens-free, holographic microscopy techniques with applications for field-based detection of blood-borne diseases and other areas of tele-medicine. Those efforts recently resulted in a Popular Mechanics Breakthrough Award and a National Geographic Emerging Explorer Award, among others. Ozcan's research is also supported through an NIH Director's New Innovator Award, Office of Naval Research Young Investigator Award and an Army Research Office Young Investigator Award from the Department of Defense.

For the recent work, Ozcan and his colleagues--Ting-Wei Su, also of UCLA, and Liang Xue, of both UCLA and Nanjing University of Science and Technology in China--used offset beams of red and blue light to create holographic information that, when processed using sophisticated software, accurately reveal the paths of objects moving under a microscope. The researchers tracked several cohorts of more than 1,500 human male gamete cells over a relatively wide field of view (more than 17 square millimeters) and large sample volume (up to 17 cubic millimeters) over several seconds.

The technique, along with a novel software algorithm that the team developed to process observational data, revealed previously unknown statistical pathways for the cells. The researchers found that human male gamete cells travel in a series of twists and turns along a constantly changing path that occasionally follows a tight helix - a spiral that, 90 percent of the time, is in a clockwise (right-handed) direction.

Because only four to five percent of the cells in a given sample traveled in a helical path at any given time, researchers would not have been able to observe the rare behavior without the new high-throughput microscopy technique.

"This latest study is an extension of truly novel and creative work," says Leon Esterowitz, the NSF biophotonics program officer who has supported Ozcan's efforts. "The holographic technique could accelerate drug discovery and prove valuable for monitoring pharmaceutical treatments of dangerous microbial diseases."

The PNAS paper reports observations of 24,000 cells over the duration of the experiments. Such a large number of observations provide a statistically significant dataset and a useful methodology for potentially studying a range of subjects, from the impact of pharmaceuticals and other substances on large numbers of cells--in real time--to fertility treatments and drug development.

The same approach may also enable scientists to study quick-moving, single-celled microorganisms. Many of the dangerous protozoa found in unsanitary drinking water and rural bodies of water have only been observed in small samples moving through an area that is roughly two dimensional. The new lens-free holographic imaging technique could potentially reveal unknown elements of protozoan behavior and allow real-time testing of novel drug treatments to combat some of the most deadly forms of those microbes.

More than 30 escape from Mexican prison on US border

More than 30 inmates have escaped from a prison in northern Mexico on the border with the United States, authorities in the state of Coahuila said on Monday.

Jorge Luis Moran, chief of public security in Coahuila, said the convicts had escaped through a tunnel dug in the carpentry section of the prison in the city of Piedras Negras.

U.S. authorities have been alerted to help capture the fugitives if they try to cross the border, Moran added.

Some media reports said more than 100 prisoners had broken out, though that figure has not been confirmed.

There have been numerous breakouts in the last few years from Mexico's struggling penal system, where guards are frequently accused of complicity with drug cartels.

At the end of 2010, more than 140 inmates escaped a prison in the border city of Nuevo Laredo.

Northern Mexico has been hit particularly hard by violence stemming from brutal turf wars between drug gangs.

President Felipe Calderon, who leaves office in November, has used the military to try and crack down on the gangs, and has captured or killed many of the country's top kingpins.

However, violence has surged on his watch, and fighting between cartels and their clashes with security forces have claimed more than 55,000 lives over the past six years.
